Come join us for a special Bluegrass Wildwater Association meeting and learn practical swiftwater rescue techniques, proper use of river signals, and gear tips from our very own swiftwater rescue instructor and experienced Ocoee Raft Guide, Ben Mudd.

Ben has been kayaking since 2016 and guiding since 2018 on rivers including the Ocoee, Skykomish, and Wenatchee. He is currently a guide and trip leader for Quest Expeditions on the Ocoee, as well as an ACA level 4 swiftwater rescue instructor.

During this hour long session, we’ll split up into groups and cover how to use and store a throw rope, how to communicate with your group on the river, how to don and adjust your rescue PFD, and how to treat someone that is unconscious or in cardiac arrest after you rescue them.
